For my next task I have analysed a few of the indie/folk bands that I find interesting and how effective they are at reflecting their music style and how I can incorporate this in my own music magazine:

Hi again!
So far i've been doing some extensive research about music magazine NME (New Musical Express), their type of photography, music genres, featured articles, videos, everything. To present my findings I have created a power point showcasing some NME's features and looking into more depth of why it is effective:
Case Study NME
Welcome!
Hello! I'm Natalia and this is my first ever post on any blog. I'm from the old seaside town of Redcar and currently a student or "fresher" at Prior Pursglove College. The purpose of this blog is to record research for my AS Media Course, taking inspiration ...so you'll be hearing from me quite a bit.

So I am a follower of folk/indie music and bands both local and international. Elbow would be one of my favourite and coincidently have just finished their promotion of the London 2012 Olympics, also treating the world to their performance at the brilliant closing ceremony. One day like that a year would definately see me right...their tour dates and albums are on sale at their homepage: www.elbow.co.uk/
I also have a soft spot for folk band Mumford & Sons and await the arrival of their new album and release of tour dates!www.mumfordandsons.com/
To add to the range of artists, American actress Zooey Deschanel and her partner Matthew Ward definately introduce a whole variety of instrumental talent to the indie genre as duo She & Him. You can find them at their hom: www.sheandhim.com/
Finally, local talent from the North East of England, brother, sister and bandmates form alternative rock band Cattle & Cane, not too long ago performing at the Stockton Weekender. You can find out more about their albums and show dates at their official website: cattleandcane.co.uk/
To look for inspiration of styles and techniques to use for my own magazine I am going to research one of the most popular magazines in the world: NME - New Musical Express. This magazine has been running for over 60 years and has definately seen the ups and downs of music history and covered it in their weekly issue.
The genre that NME covers is most likely to relate to the music I like and has already covered Elbow and awarded them the Outstanding Contribution Award at the NME Awards. Their us of layouts and wide variety of excellent quality photography has interested me and I can't wait to find out more about it...
Thanks for reading!
